In all process industries calibration is important to maintain the accuracy and quality of measurements. Over time most measuring instruments have a tendancy to drift, particularly in challenging applications or harsh environments. There is little point in taking measurements of temperatures, pressures or electrical parameters, for example, that cannot be relied upon.
